Fire & Water - Cleanup & Restoration

How do you remove microwave smells?

A kitchen fire left this home covered in soot and smoke damage.

Keeping your microwave clean is the key to prolonging its life and preventing bad smells when you cook. We recommend that you clean the vents and filters once a month and keep the inside of the appliance free of grease and food particles.
There are a couple of ways you can clean the interior. Keep a spray bottle of water and vinegar handy to wipe down all the sides after every use. This prevents the accumulation of food that causes foul odors. Alternatively, you can steam the inside of the appliance once a week by microwaving a bowl of water with vinegar or lemon juice once a week to loosen particles and make them easier to wipe away.
