What not to do after a flood.

It's tempting to go back to your home as soon as possible after a flood, but a flooded home comes with a lot of hidden dangers. Don't rush back into the area to try and fix up your home on your own. There will be electrical hazards due to downed power lines, mold growing on wet surfaces and bacteria festering in the standing water. Take the time to contact your insurance professionals, talk to contractors and apply for a loan through the Federal Emergency Management Agency. Allowing the emergency personnel to clean up first will help you in the long run.
